Representative Professional Activities and Achievements
Laura Killinger earned her undergraduate degree cum laude from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She then received her law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law, where she was an editor of the Journal of Law and Politics. Professor Killinger began her legal career as a civil litigator in Washington, D.C., focusing on general litigation at Jenkins & Gilchrist, and later practicing securities litigation and regulation at the national law firm of Bingham McCutchen. She also worked as an account representative for Westlaw where she trained lawyers and law students to perform cost-effective research. Immediately before joining the William & Mary faculty, Professor Killinger spent six years as a prosecutor in the Harris County District Attorney's Office in Houston, Texas where she prosecuted violent and complex offenses, spending time in the felony, misdemeanor, and white-collar crime divisions. She tried more than sixty cases to a jury, including numerous murders, aggravated robberies, complex white-collar fraud, child abuse, and driving while intoxicated. Her scholarship has recently appeared in the Northwestern University Law Review.
