Representative Professional Activities and Achievements
Rachel Suddarth is a 2006 graduate of the William & Mary Law School. She graduated first in her class, was inducted into the Order of the Coif, and served on the William & Mary Law Review. Professor Suddarth also received the Legal Skills Scholar Award for Excellence in Legal Research and Writing, Professional Responsibility, and Lawyering Skills. While in law school she served as a teaching assistant for the Legal Skills and Academic Support programs and for the first year Criminal Law classes.
Following graduation, Professor Suddarth clerked for Justice Elizabeth B. Lacy of the Supreme Court of Virginia. She then practiced law at Hancock, Daniel, Johnson & Nagle, P.C, a health law boutique firm in Richmond, Virginia. Her practice focused on federal and state regulatory compliance issues, with a particular emphasis on Medicare and Medicaid coverage and reimbursement. While in private practice, she served as an Adjunct Instructor in the Legal Skills program at William & Mary.
Professor Suddarth received her undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Virginia. Prior to attending law school she worked for several years in microbiology laboratories at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and the University of Virginia. She also worked as the Manager of Public Health Affairs for a large medical professional society.
