Williamsburg is a great place to visit in late April. The leaves are out, the flowers are blooming, and the high temperature is usually in the low 70's.

Duke of Gloucester Street, the heart of the Colonial Williamsburg Historic Area, extends one mile from the restored Capitol Building (Williamsburg was Virginia's capitol until 1780) to the College of William & Mary's Wren Building. Jamestown Island, the first permanent English settlement in the New World, dates from 1607. In addition to a great museum, you can see the remains of the original fort built by the colonists and the ancient village. If you want to step back in time, visit Jamestown Settlement's re-created fort and Indian village, and climb aboard re-creations of the three ships that carried the colonists here. And don't forget Yorktown, the site of the definitive battle of the American Revolution, where the British surrendered.

How about some education? Chartered in 1693, the College of William & Mary is the second oldest university in America. The William & Mary School of Law, established in 1779, is the oldest academic law school in the U.S. -- so old that Chief Justice John Marshall studied here!
Williamsburg is also pretty big on the arts. Colonial Williamsburg operates the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Folk Art Center / Dewitt Wallace Decorative Art Gallery, and William & Mary is home to the Muscarelle Museum of Art. As a special bonus, this year's Art on the Square juried art fair -- featuring more than 150 artists and craftsmen -- takes place on Merchant's Square in the heart of Williamsburg on Sunday, April 25.
Outside of Williamsburg, there are numerous museums and galleries in Norfolk/Virginia Beach, Newport News/Hampton, and Richmond.

If you're looking for something a bit different, spend a day at Busch Gardens Williamsburg, a 10-minute drive from downtown. Or visit one of the many parks in or around Williamsburg, including Chippokes State Park on the James River and York River State Park on the York.
There's a lot to do in and around the Historic Triangle -- Williamsburg, Jamestown, and Yorktown. We look forward to seeing you at SEAALL's 2010 Annual Meeting.
